What each problem means

Outlet sparking when plugging in

A spark when you plug something in usually points to a loose or faulty connection inside the outlet. We find the cause and repair or replace the outlet so it is safe to use again.

Dead outlets not supplying power

An outlet that has stopped supplying power can come down to the outlet itself, its wiring or a tripped reset button upstream. We trace it and get the power back on.

Loose or wobbly plugs

When plugs slip out or hang loose, the outlet has worn out. A loose fit makes a poor connection, so we replace the outlet with a new, snug one.

Burnt or discolored outlets

Scorch marks or a discolored cover mean the outlet has been overheating. Stop using it and call us: we replace the outlet and check the connection behind it.

Outlet reset buttons not working

GFCI outlets have test and reset buttons. When the reset button will not stay in or the outlet will not come back on, we find out why and replace the GFCI if needed.

Adding USB or smart outlets

We can swap standard outlets for USB outlets or smart outlets, so you can charge devices or control plugs without extra adapters. See outlet installation for new outlets.

Upgrading 2-prong outlets to grounded 3-prong

Older homes often still have 2-prong outlets with no ground. We upgrade them to grounded 3-prong outlets, done safely and to code.

Outlet repair questions

Why is my outlet sparking?

A spark when you plug in usually means a loose or faulty connection, or an outlet that has worn out. Stop using it and have an electrician check it. We diagnose the cause and repair or replace the outlet so it is safe.

Why did my outlet stop working?

A dead outlet can be a tripped GFCI reset button, a worn outlet or a problem in the wiring or circuit behind it. If pressing reset does not bring it back, call us and we'll find and fix the cause.

Can you replace 2-prong outlets with 3-prong?

Yes. We upgrade 2-prong outlets to grounded 3-prong outlets, safely and to code, and can add USB or smart outlets at the same visit.

Is a warm or discolored outlet dangerous?

Treat it as a warning sign. A warm, burnt or discolored outlet is overheating. Stop using it and call 817-677-0036 so we can replace it and check the connection behind it.
